Entry Requirements :

  • At least an advanced post graduate or masters of science degree in Natural resource management or related discipline such as forestry, environmental management, Agriculture, Water Resources management, Project Management or applied GIS’
  • Bachelors’ degree in Project Management, Economics and Mathematics,Statistics, Strategic Management, Business Development, Development studies and Business Administration or relevant qualifications from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior techni cal position with monitoring and evaluating the progress, performance and benefits for sustainable land management through leading Baseline Studies, Mid-Term Reviews and/or TerminalEvaluations including the development and monitoring of SMART indicators.
  • Experience in East Africa region would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Job Description

  • Coordinate monitoring and reporting across the implementing counties, KALRO, FAO and other executing partners.
  • Establishing a performance monitoring framework to define bi-annual targets for the project to meet the targets defined in the project document by the end of the implementation phase;
  • Support the streamlining of M&E roles and responsibilities across the numerous executing and sub-executing agencies·
  • Support coherent flow of monitoring data in a timely manner from Executing and Sub-executing agencies ensuring that methods for data collection and processing and roles and responsibilities are well established;
  • Provide project and program level data Quality Assurance support of all monitoring products;
  • Support the Operational Partners in the actualization and harmonization of relevant reporting frameworks and templates with the Operational Partner Agreement (OPA) templates in line with FAO and GEF (global Environmental Facility) standards;
  • Advise and support the Operational Partners in the preparation of work plans ensuring compliance with FAO rules/regulations as specified under the signed
  • Operational Partners Agreement (OPA)s.
  • Measuring project and GEF Results Framework indicators at least twice per year to evaluate the progress of the project in meeting the targets and the application of gender disaggregated indicators;
  • Reporting to the PMU (Project Management Unit) and Project Steering Committee on the performance of the project according to project and GEF Results Framework indicators;
  • Facilitate capacity needs assessment on knowledge management and sharing of local partners and stakeholders and ensure support towards harmonized knowledge sharing and management following FAO’s and GEF good practices;
  • Support the knowledge capturing, sharing and dissemination of good practices through Transboundary Knowledge Systems platform, through local and national platforms/fora as well as through Global FOLUR (Food systems, Land Use and Restoration platform).
  • Facilitate flow of knowledge sharing sessions, learning and knowledge capture sessions among project staff and national counterparts with documenting good practices.
  • Providing information against project indicators to be used for reporting to GEF Secretarial on a yearly basis (through the Project Implementation Reviews), at the project mid-point (through the Mid Term Reviews) and at the project end- point (through the Terminal Evaluation); and
  •  Participate in the production of reports.

Entry Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Business Administration, Project Management, Natural Resources, Environment, Tourism Management or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Served in a related position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Certificate in computer applications skills from a recognized institution.
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.

Duties and responsibilities include;

  • The Project Assistant will support the project management Unit in the execution and coordination of project activities, ensuring the project runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide administrative, logistical, and coordination support to the project team to facilitate the timely and effective completion of project tasks and milestones.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Maintain and updating project documentation and records and ensuring its security
  • Manage correspondence and communication with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for project team members.
  • Organize project events, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of project reports.
  • Liaise with team members to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Entry Requirements :

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement relevant communication strategies.
  • Facilitate all communication training programs targeting staff, KALRO, FAO, external staff, and other stakeholders within the project area
  • Participate and contribute in interdepartmental planning and monitoring project activities
  • Spearhead effective exchange of information between the project and its publics.
  • Undertake communication research activities and dissemination of research findings to relevant audience within the project area.
  • Mentoring and coaching

Person specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations or other related fields of study.
  • Master’s degree in Communication, Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations or another relevant course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
  • Served for at least six (6) years in a relevant position.
  • Member of a professional body such as PRSK
  • Proficiency in Computer applications
